Your document templates, in the conversation.
Connect Docjig to ChatGPT to turn a PDF into a reusable template, review proposed fields and make new documents from an approved version.
Connection availability: Docjig is preparing for the OpenAI app directory. It is not publicly listed yet. You can connect it through ChatGPT developer mode if that feature is available to your account and workspace. You can use the Docjig website now without that connection.
Connect your workspace
- Create or sign in to your Docjig account.
-
In ChatGPT, enable developer mode if your account and workspace allow
it. Add a custom app with the MCP server URL
https://docjig.com/mcpand OAuth authentication. - Sign in to the same Docjig account when prompted. Connect the app, then select it in a conversation.
ChatGPT's setup screens and availability can vary. See OpenAI's connection guide for the current steps. If you do not have developer mode, use the website before directory publication.
Start with a specific request
With Google Drive connected to your assistant, ask it to export a Google Doc as PDF and pass that file to Docjig. No public sharing link is needed. Upload a PDF or DOCX to your conversation and explain which details should change. These are example prompts; use the actual names and values for your document.
“Turn this letter into a reusable template. Make the tenant name, address and lease end date fields. Keep my business details and static signature.”
Creating a template through the current connection imports the source, prepares typed fields and saves a draft in Docjig. Your assistant can also propose corrections. Review the result inline or discuss it with your assistant; finding a plausible field is a proposal, not your approval.
“Compare this second sample with the template. Show me additional fields or wording choices I should review.”
When you have approved a version, give the assistant new values:
“Use my approved residency letter template for Jordan Lee at 18 Cedar Lane, Apt 2. The lease ends August 31, 2027. Make a draft PDF for review.”
What the assistant can do
- Import a PDF or DOCX and inspect its source text and selected images.
- Propose fields, repeated occurrences and wording choices.
- Save a proposal and open the embedded Docjig review.
- Fill an approved template and link to a saved PDF version.
- Resume from the original and saved versions in your workspace.
You approve the exact version
Review highlighted fields, save your choices and finalize the exact version in the embedded Docjig app or the website. With the current connection, your assistant can also finalize after you ask it to or confirm its summary of the fields, values and pending changes. A chat message alone does not change the saved revision: the finalization tool must succeed. Check the original, proposed changes, images and PDF preview before using the template.
Generated documents remain drafts until you review and finalize them. You can then explicitly authorize sending a document for signature to named recipients. Each recipient reviews and signs through their own private email link; the assistant cannot sign or consent for them. New sessions can return to saved work, but unsaved conversation suggestions need to be saved before they become part of the template.
Where does the AI work happen?
The current connection uses Docjig's server-side Luna workflow to discover fields in new templates, then validates and saves the proposal. Supported existing PDF form controls need no AI discovery. The website uses the same provider for its AI features. Your assistant can also inspect the source and submit its own field or wording corrections.
Docjig stores your original and saved versions; ChatGPT receives the content needed for the tools you use. Your ChatGPT data controls apply to that conversation. Read the privacy notice for processing and retention details.
Can the finished document go out for signature?
Yes. Docjig supports signature, initials and signing-date fields, multiple signers and private email invitations. Use the website to prepare and review assignments; connected clients with the current signing tools can also prepare fields, send an explicitly authorized request and read its status. Sending requires confirmation of the exact document and recipients. Each person adopts their own signature.
Recipients sign in any order without Docjig accounts. Download completed PDFs and signing records from the website; availability of connected tools depends on the client’s latest catalog. See the e-signature workflow and limits.
What about other AI clients?
Docjig exposes an authenticated MCP server. Other clients need support for its OAuth connection and tools. Embedded review and file transfer support vary by client; the authenticated website remains available for review. See the MCP integration guide for authentication, tool permissions, limits and file delivery requirements.
